Barr’s Small Engines Inc. is owned and operated by Greg Barr. Due to factory training for most manufacturers in the industry, and the thirst to excel personally with continuous education, Greg has the knowledge to repair, maintain and sell outdoor power equipment beyond current industry standards.
Greg Barr has over fifteen years’ experience in the outdoor power equipment industry, working for dealers and distributors in major repair, rebuild and sales roles. Prior to starting Barr’s Small Engines, Greg spent two years as the education co-director for Canada’s distributor of Briggs & Stratton engines. This position included training dealers and warranty administration for Briggs & Stratton and Dolmar Engines & Power Products.
Greg was also certified as a Master Service Technician from Briggs & Stratton in 2001 and has kept that status by attending annual updates. Greg knows how to perform proper warranty procedures and repairs for all the equipment sold by Barr’s Small Engines Inc. and most other manufacturers.
Greg Barr is fully trained in emissions technology of the small engine industry. It is believed that our industry is ten to fifteen years behind the automotive standards with respect to emissions controls and retesting. Lawn and Garden and other outdoor power equipment do not presently require emissions retesting, but the equipment is factory-tested before sold to the consumer.
At Barr’s Small Engines adjustments and repairs can be performed to ensure that emissions are kept within factory specifications. Not only will this help the environment, but cost savings can be realized with proper adjusted and maintained equipment. Over time, these savings can be substantial.
Greg is fully trained to deal with alternative fuels and understand how they affect the environment, and our equipment. Through personal and professional research, he can offer solutions using alternative fuels. For instance, despite the belief that it is bad for small engines, ethanol will not harm small engines if used correctly. Barr’s Small Engines carries many lines of outdoor power equipment and engines, and fully services each and every one of them. We can also perform service, maintenance and parts sales for products we do not handle through local business partners, and high quality aftermarket sources.
