Ultrasonic Cleaning

Barr’s Small Engines Inc. recently invested in an Ultrasonic Cleaning machine.

Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency sound waves to agitate in a liquid. Cavitation bubbles induced by the agitation act on contaminants adhering to substrates like metals, plastics, glass, rubber, and ceramics. This action also penetrates blind holes, cracks, and recesses. The intention is to thoroughly remove all traces of contamination tightly adhering or embedded onto solid surfaces

Contaminants can include dust, dirt, oil, pigments, grease, polishing compounds, flux agents, fingerprints, soot wax and mold release agents, and so on. Ultrasonic cleaning can be used for a wide range of workpiece shapes, sizes and materials, and may not require the part to be disassembled prior to cleaning.

The use of an Ultrasonic Cleaning machine will allow us to clean your carburators and other small parts more efficiently and it can also prevent the need for replacement internal components that are hard to clean.

Ultrasonic Cleaning is still relatively new to the outdoor power equipment industry and only in the last few years have major manufacturers started to support and require it. Many shops do not have this capability as the initial investment is expensive and there is a long term on the recuperation of the costs.

Barr’s Small Engines Inc. has chosen to purchase this equipment to help save our customers money as well as to limit the use of harsh chemical use in the shop.

We will be using this new equipment every day in repair services and will also offer over the counter cleaning for the D.I.Y. consumer. For more information please contact us.
